Pedal the Ocean

  • January 07, 2016

This year Anthony Ward Thomas will be undertaking a challenge that has never been done before. Together with James Ketchell, they plan to row, kite and pedal across the Atlantic ocean. Yes you read that right, pedal over an ocean. They have a very unique boat that was built especially for their challenge.

They estimate that with favourable conditions it will take them a minimum of 45 days to complete their journey of 2,930 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua. They will be following the same route that Sir Christopher Columbus took when he discovered the Americas in the 15th century.

To help keep themselves safe, and keep everyone left on dry land up to date with their exploits, the two have had a YB tracker installed on-board, meaning friends and family left ashore can follow their progress in real time, as the tracker updates their live map every two hours with data such as speed, direction and GPS coordinates.

For live tracking and more information on this one-of-a-kind challenge please visit their website.
