Armen Race

Created in 2011 by La Trinité-sur-Mer’s nautical society, the ArMen Race covers a coastal course of 300 to 360 miles with no stopover, open to sailing professionals and amateurs. Participants may sail as pairs or crews.
Out of La Trinité-sur-Mer, the competitors will round a buoy at the base of the Ar Men lighthouse on the Finistère headland, then sail down to the Ile d'Yeu and back up Quiberon Bay at La Trinité-sur-Mer.
In just the first two years of the contest, the race gained popularity and became a quintessential offshore race along with the Rolex Fastnet Race in the English Channel and the Giraglia Rolex Cup in the Mediterranean.
The ArMen Race has been designed to give participants a challenging tactical course which is why it draws in so many competitors. This year over 150 vessels will take to the water. Every boat in the fleet will have a YB tracker installed. The tracker will wake up at a determined time interval to transmit data through the Iridium satellite network. The satellites transmit the data to YB HQ where it is then visualised to our race viewer.
Friends and family left on shore will be able to follow every twist and turn of the fleet throughout the contest with the race viewer updating automatically every ten minutes.
